To slow down the process, you can protect these garden accessories with a clear coat of Varathane. You can also buy Tremclad Clear (in a spray can). TREMCLAD Rust Paint provides superior rust inhibition, and is specially formulated to penetrate rust and bind to metal.
Resin garden accessories such as plaques and statues should be brought inside for the winter as they will crack. These garden accessories can be left outside only if they have fibreglass in them.
Hand blown glass garden accessories such as glass balls can be left outside all year long but the change of temperature has to be gradual.
