The wings are made of metal wires to complete the illusion and the bug is affixed atop a spike so you can set this item in the ground for a long lasting decoration. Canadian artists Kim and Ian Grant use materials in their natural state so that you get the vintage weathered look on each piece. Spray this item with clear lacquer to prevent it from rusting further or leave it in its natural state for a more weathered look.
